Ngoh Shwu Lan received her BEng degree and her Ph.D in Mechanical and Production Engineering, and Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 2000 and 2007 respectively. Prior to embarking on research career, she has previously worked as a Failure Analysis Engineer in Seagate Technology International, a hard disk recording media manufacturing plant from 2000 to 2002. In 2006, she joined Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology - SIMTech (A*STAR) as a researcher. Her core research areas were on the mechanical and microstructural studies of ceramic materials, glass bonded joints and secondary interconnection for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) application. In 2011, she joined School of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, Singapore Polytechnic as a lecturer and was promoted to senior lecturer in 2015. She is currently the Course Chair of Diploma in Bioengineering at Singapore Polytechnic.
